Lessons at St Martin de Porres and Flagstaff Hill Primary School
Pathways Music School delivers lessons at Flagstaff Hill Primary School and St. Martin de Porres Primary School.
Typically, we find that parents have the same complaints when their child is having lessons in school, with another music teacher or company : The teacher doesn't give feedback, the child is removed from the same lesson each week and there aren't many performance opportunities.
With Pathways Music, you're investing your time and money into small family business that cares about every single one of our students. Every week, you will receive an email with updates relating to how your child is doing in their lessons; what they've been working on and crucially, what the homework is. We rotate our timetables so that your child won't miss the same lesson at school each week - and we have around four performance opportunities every year. In 2018 alone, our students have :
Performed at Elder Hall in the 'Young Adelaide Sings' Festival.
Performed in our Mid Year Concerts at our Studio
Will be performing at Marion Shopping Centre
Will be performing at the Adelaide Airport, specifically for a Major Internationals arrival
Will be performing at Brighton Performing Arts Centre for our End of Year Christmas Concert.
Music education has the power to improve every possible educational outcome: Studies have consistently shown that music training relates to better language and mathematical skills in particular – but also point to a higher IQ and overall greater academic achievement. Our expertise, enthusiasm and understanding of the process of learning helps our students to love and appreciate music. We seek out only the very best educators who are truly passionate about music education, to work alongside us so that your child progresses quickly; achieving the most from their lessons.
We strive to ensure that they forge a friendly, warm relationship with their teacher, which in turn inspires confidence in themselves and respect, which leads to better achievements.
Music is about fun, but it’s not the only measure of success: We expect a lot from our students and encourage them to strive for exciting goals and challenges…We offer AMEB exam preparation right from the outset (although optional of course) and more importantly, performance opportunities will be available for all levels and abilities - including at least three per year. We help our students to play pieces above their playing level so they can rise with an occasion…and usually learn something they love!
Their hard work is rewarded too - last year alone, we have helped students get into their secondary school of choice though music scholarships, had many AMEB exam successes, offered a composition competition (with a prize of over $1,300) to the best original work and seen our students selected for the SA and NT AMEB Showcase - which is quite a commendation. We constantly strive to seek out the best, real opportunities for our students to succeed and enjoy their hobby.
Excellence is a tricky thing to prove: however to reassure you, all of our graded exam entries we have ever entered achieve a passing grade and we are proud to hold a 100% pass rate at A+, A or B+. This is a fantastic achievement for our school; and I’m proud of all our teachers for maintaining this.
At Pathways, we’re a family: A family of teachers who feel blessed and love to do what they do, and a family of students that support and encourage each other in their lessons, recitals, masterclasses and jamming sessions.
We’d love to hear your thoughts, comments and questions - we’re here as a personal service, to add some more fun, laughter and music to the St Martins and Flagstaff Hill Primary School community - and we hope you join us for that journey.
Feel free to have a look around the website - or else get in touch and we'd be happy to set your child up with an initial complimentary lesson so they can get to know their teacher, and what we can offer them.
