Multiple-instrumentalists preferred but not necessary.

About the role

Pathways Music School located in Flagstaff Hill, SA, is currently looking for passionate, friendly and energetic individuals to join a highly skilled, tight-knit team of specialist music educators. Due to our growing music school, we are seeking applicants who are looking to make a career with teaching with us and are looking to appoint:

Piano, Guitar, Drum, Flute and Woodwind, Vocal and Bass teacher. Teachers with multiple instruments are preferable but not necessary.

The successful candidate will need to share in our ethos of providing a bespoke, individualised and tailored music education to their students.

The teaching role will involve:

- Delivering a high-quality tuition to individuals and pairs to all ages and abilities with learning always being fully differentiated.

- Developing and building strong relationships with students, their families and the wider community. 

- Being available for masterclasses, workshops, concerts and other events.

- Being able to log individual weekly notes for all students.

- We also have various 'group' ensembles including bands and a choir - participation in these depends on your instrument and will be discussed in person.

You are supported by our own resources and equipment - but teachers often use their own resources in addition.

Skills and experience

- Drivers Licence and access to a car is essential.

- DCSI Clearance an advantage

- RAN training an advantage

- First Aid training an advantage

- Current Ancillary Register Lodgement with DECD an advantage 

We would expect the successful applicant to :

-Be responsible well organized and well presented at all times.

-Be approachable, friendly and encouraging in their communications with their students and their families. 

-Use and implement effective teaching methodologies in their instrument(s) which produces excellent results. 

-Be able to work independently and interdependently

-Be fluent in spoken English and have excellent written communication skills (this is important in writing lesson notes etc).

-Be flexible and dynamic in their teaching so to address the individual needs of their students.

-Be able to use basic office software on a PC or Macintosh computer and be able to navigate and use online timetabling software (we will offer training).

-Being able to 'blend' and change your personality to cater for differing ages and abilities of children and adults is essential. 

Music Grading Qualifications are important but there are exceptions. If you have these, please bring them with you however if you don't, your application will still be considered but you will be expected to demonstrate musical competence across your instrument, technique and style. 

If Piano & Vocals : AMEB Grades Preferred. You will be required to teach AMEB Classical and Contemporary (Piano for Leisure) Syllabi as well as Rockschool Vocals. Please familiarise yourself with these syllabi if offered interview.

If Guitar : AMEB Grades Preferred but not necessary. Acoustic and Electric Experience is a must and ideally some classical too. Again, these will all be considered on application.
